Virtual Holiday Ideas

The holiday season is a time for family, friends and of course co-workers! Finding creative ways to keep your team engaged in our virtual world and over the holidays can be tough. Holiday parties, events and activities don’t have to be a thing of the past. Through a bit of creativity, the holiday festivities will thrive!

Here are some ways you can bring the holidays to life with your team:

This classic holiday tradition can easily be implemented with your team. If anything, it’s even easier! Randomly assign (or try drawnames.com) each member of your team a person and provide them with the shipping address as well as wish list or get creative with a theme. Each employee will send their gifts to the person they’re assigned. Pick a morning meeting to go through and open each gift, just as you would in person!

A cocktail or cooking class is a fun and interesting twist on the holiday party, that can easily be done virtually. There are many companies that will ship each team member supplies and lead the class through the recipe. This can also be achieved without a company. Have someone choose a recipe and lead the team through it one night.

Competitions are always fun, and an edible one? Even better! Provide everyone with a cookie decorating kit, a recipe, or ingredients list. Whether you decorate on a team call or come to a meeting with the presentation of your cookie – each person can show off their creativity before voting begins! There can be a prize, but sometimes bragging rights are enough motivation.

Nothing puts you in the holiday spirit like a movie night fully stocked with hot chocolate and popcorn! Choose a movie, provide each team member with a hot cocoa kit, popcorn, and any other classic movie snacks. Pick a night when you all will watch the movie and talk about it in your next team meeting!

We may not be able to celebrate in person, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get into the holiday spirit, in and out of work! When working virtually, it’s important to do whatever you can to keep your team engaged and these holiday ideas might just be the way to do it!
